Oh Jerusalem!
|
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! (Mt 23:37, NKJV). You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me (Jn 5:39). O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken (emphasis added, Lk 24:25). Biblical Reasons for Christian Support for Israel. Israel's Claim to their Land in the Bible: Read Judges 11. The children of Israel shall return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They shall fear the Lord and His goodness in the latter days (Ho. 3:5, NKJV). Has God cast away his people? No. Read Romans 11. The gentiles have been graphed in. Replacement theology as taught by some (e.g. Catholics) is false. We the church have not replaced Israel. God is not finished with the nation Israel. Read Matthew 24. Jesus responds to a question regarding when the end of the age will be. One sign given is that of a fig tree (the fig tree in scripture represents Israel). Read Genesis 12. Through Israel the families of the world will be blessed. If we are with God and his plan we will be blessed. If we are against him and his plan we will be cursed. Blessing for Israel means blessing for the whole world. We should pray for peace in Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6). Jerusalem will be where Jesus returns. Why does God do what he does for Israel? Are they lovelier than other people? No. God does what he does "for my name's sake" (Isa 48:4-11). "I will cleanse you...give you a new heart (Eze 36:26, Eze 11:19)." Multitudes around the world will come to know that he is God. God will return and do his good work. Understand Israel's rejection (Isa 50) and Israel's outlook for the future (Isa 51).

What is w Messianic Judaism?
Excerpt, Ronald L. Dart Born to Win Radio Program: "The whole idea behind sin offerings in the Bible is for a man to acknowledge His sin and to recognize that there is a price to be paid for it. Now God didn't make a very big deal out of it. All it took was a little goat [or lamb]--that, that little fella had to die because you sinned-- would have an effect on a normal person, I should think. For the most part when we do something wrong nothing happens...at least that's what we think. and it calls to mind a passage in 'When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong.' Ec. 8:11, NLT)." (Archive Minor Profits #11).
Why do some Jews today wish to reinstate the sacrificial system? w Yeshua, the lamb of God, took away the sins of the world. The types and shadows of the Old Testament ultimately pointed to Him.
The apostle Paul was a "Jew of Jews". He was a Pharisee who tortured and murdered Christians. One day he was knocked off a donkey and all his religion changed. "But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ (Phil. 3:7, NASB)." He was not disobedient to the vision. According to scripture: Christ was to suffer, die and rise again. God had done something for man. Paul presented his case to a crowd. Read Paul reveals his heart (Acts 22). Paul said "I know you know" King Agrippa. You can believe in the facts--it depends on what you do with those facts that is essential (McGee).

The Veil in the holy of holies (2 Chr. 3:14). Even the colors point to Christ: blue (sonship); purple (combined hard to distinguish God from man in the God-man, Jesus; when combined color of royalty); crimson (the blood of Christ). We can now enter into the holy of holies with Christ's presence (Heb. 10:19–22). What an honor it is for the believer each day (A. Rogers).

Do you have trouble keeping all of those Bible
people and events straight? Even the president of a Christian
publishing company can visit Jerusalem and walk away confused. It's hard to
imagine what Jerusalem was like during King David's time...or during Jesus'
time, and it's tough to keep Bible people and events in chronological order.
