The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. (John 3:35)
I cannot even imagine the love the Father has for the Son. The Father shows infinite love for His glorious Son, who is the perfect and exact representation of the Father. The Bible is clear that there is only One God—three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) in one being. The Son is eternally begotten of the Father, and He is the first and greatest object of the Father’s love. And as our Savior and Lord, Christ is to have preeminence in every area of our lives.
These devotions have been based on God’s special revelation of Himself, as made known to us in His Scriptures, which teach us about Jesus Christ. Scripture points to Jesus as not only the object of the Father’s love, but also as the object of our love for God. If we are to love The Father, we must love the Son. It is only through the Son that we can be forgiven for our treacherous rebellion. In the eternal counsel of the sovereign God, the Son carried out the Father’s plan, and He will be glorified in the salvation of sinners and the judgment of the wicked. In the Son we can die to sin and enjoy resurrection to new life. The victorious Son will be magnified in the consummation of all things.
While upholding the authority of God’s Word in these devotionals, it has been our prayer that you know and love Jesus. Our desire is that God alone would be glorified and that we would point to Him as the chief affection of our hearts. So let me leave you with this one last question. In light of the Father’s incredible love in sending His Son to die for us (John 3:16), how much do you love Jesus?
