A Confederacy of Dunces

Response to comment [from a Christian]: [Atheists meet in Washington]

What a freak show that was. It was their coming out party.

"...Dawkins got to the part where he calls on the crowd not only to challenge religious people but to "ridicule and show contempt" for their doctrines and sacraments, including the Eucharist, which Catholics believe becomes the body of Christ during Mass."

He is right that transubstantiation is not biblical.

"...Outrage was the parlance of the day, however, for many speakers, including David Silverman, Reason Rally organizer and American Atheists president.  He reveled in the group's reputation as the 'marines of atheism', as the people who storm the faith barricades and bring "unpopular but necessary" lawsuits.  Silverman may have gone a bit further in his rhetoric than he intended. In a thundering call for "zero tolerance" for anyone who disagrees with or insults atheism, Silverman proclaimed, "Stand your ground!"

I've debated him. He isn't interested in opposing views (Isa 55:13, Eze 2:6). These people will only hear from their own echo chamber.

Response to comment [from a Christian]: "I believe that productive insight is born of a powerful interest and a clear eye. Dawkins' contempt nullifies the intellectual power he could bring to bear to produce it."

He's still stuck on the I.Q. thing.

"He can compress the most words into the smallest idea of any man I know." ~ Abraham Lincoln
