Adam and Eve a Myth Says Catholic Cardinal
[Adam and Eve a Myth Says Catholic Cardinal Proclaiming
the Gospel Ministries] "Roman Catholic Cardinal George Pell has described the
biblical story of Adam and Eve as a myth. He recently appeared alongside
renowned evolutionary biologist and atheist, Professor Richard Dawkins, on the
ABC's Q&A program. Cardinal Pell said the existence of Adam and Eve was not a
matter of science but rather a mythological account. "It's a very sophisticated
mythology to try to explain the evil and the suffering in the world," he said.
According to Genesis, God created Adam and Eve as the first man and woman and
all people are descended from them. Cardinal Pell's explosive comments came
after he was questioned about evolution. He said it was impossible to say when
there was a first human. It is widely accepted in the scientific community that
life on Earth has evolved over about four billion years. See article
here."
Creation took place in six normal days (Ex
20:11;
31:17).
God created man in his own image (Ge
1:26,27;
1Co 11:7) and likeness (Ge
1:26;
Jas 3:9) from the
beginning (Ge
1:1;
Mt 24:21,
Mk 10:6).
God created them male and female (Ge
1:26-27;
5:2,
Mt 19:4).
By faith we understand this (Heb
11:3) which leads to confidence (Ps
124:8;
146:5,6).
"You believe God (revelation)
or you believe man (speculation)."

Response to comment [from a Christian]: "I thought the Catholic Church were
the only ones that were supposed to be able to interpret scripture for us.
That's what Catholics tell me all the time anyway.
So...what gives? Is it only the pope than interpret correctly? If so, why is
this mere cardinal allowed to speak on scripture at all? If not, are we supposed
to accept this? Are there cardinals that disagree with
this guy?
Maybe a Catholic can set me straight on this one."
Let's call him Hugh.
Response to comment [from other]: "Is this supposed to be scandalous?"
Do you believe God's word?
"Even a non-Catholic can set you straight on this one."
Do you assume that non-Catholics are harder to reach with the gospel of Jesus Christ? Jud 11
[Do you believe God's word?] "I don't know what your question means..."
Do you believe that the Bible is true? Is scripture our source of authority?
