America: Police State
We'll be ruled by God or by police.
Response to comment [from an atheist]: "Where "God" is defined as "those who claim to be God's mouthpieces on Earth"
That was a statement of fact. The law was made for the lawless (1 Ti 1:9). A theocracy would be best but we know how appealing that would be to you. When Jesus rules and reigns, you'll see--all better.
Response to comment [from other]: "Or we won't be ruled. Or by the Gods. Or by ourselves, though it would require radically decentralizing power."
The police officer is there to stop those who will not obey the law. You are not a believer. Are you concerned with grieving the holy spirit? Eph 4:30. My guess is no. That is why we have a police force.
"I would have absolutely no problem with a theocracy..."
It's coming (Mt 26:64).
"...as long as I'm left to my own devices and not asked to participate in silly rituals or engage in fellowship."
See, we want the same thing (Jn
8:36,
Ro 6:18,
22,
1 Pe 2:16,
Ga 5:1,
5:13).
You won't find that legalistic, apostate churches by the way (Rev.
3:14–22).
I think they make you: stand up, sit down, fight, fight, fight.
God says come (Is.
1:18,
Mt 18:11,
Mt 11:28,
Jn 14:3,
Heb. 4:16,
Re 22:17,
20).
