According to researchers Roberto Nespolo and Paulina Artacho of the Southern University of Chile in Valdivia, garden snails are evolving slower metabolisms, which enhance their survival. This is groundbreaking research. The researchers believe that the slower metabolic rates allow snails extra energy for reproduction and growth.*
While interesting, this appears to be another example of the variation capabilities designed into DNA. In this case, snail DNA allows their metabolism to adapt to their environment. It is change within a created kind, consistent with young-earth models. It is not the type of evolution that would turn one kind of creature into a different one. The snails are still snails.
