upon himself to ban the person after the poster refused to take his statement

The person had a much better reputation here than I do and I feel that he did
nothing worthy of being banned. Is there a higher appeals sorta thing that this
can be taken to?"
I can't believe that I am arguing from the side of the
atheist but I suggest that TOL not ban members unless absolutely necessary. I
have been a member on many atheists websites myself where I eventually got
banned. Don't silence the critic. That is what they do.
There is a prominent leader in the atheist movement who allows Christians to post at his website. Although we disagree on pretty much everything, he has always been respectful toward me. He even gave me a few pointers--things that atheists are tired of hearing--don't cut and paste material, answer the questions precisely without going down some rabbit trail, etc.
So please restore whoever got banned here. Give him a warning and be specific. What did he do? Was it some technical problem that he was unaware of? Give him a chance to make it right. Our God is a God of second chances.

We all have our biases and TOL admits them. I would not defend the vulgarity that this member said, but if we are going to expect to win arguments, then we need to be willing to debate those who disagree with us. I don't think it's wise to go into the pigpen but it would be nice if more of the antagonists came to TOL instead of the sites where they presently blog.
