How to Stop Corporate Greed and Fix the Economy
Response to comment [from a Christian]: "I don't like having the government force limits on profits and salaries. Let the market decide..."
Profits are evil.
Obama said today "We want our money back (from banks)." Idea
--don't
bail out banks in the first place (Bush too). Obama's solution--set a precedent
that the Government can tax [Ex 20:15]) profits.
First banks, then other businesses. People are angry about bonuses (Ex
20:17)--you never want a crisis to go to waste (Rahm Emanuel).
Obama Wants to Tax Big Banks
Response to comment [from a Catholic]: "Let it not be thought that I don't want people making profits."
Good. Because then pharmaceutical companies stop distributing things like medicine for your family and friends. Instead of being covetous (Ex 20:17), it's ok to say "thank you".
"Profits should [not be]...disproprotionate to the actual value of the thing in question."
When government gets involved it will all be sorted out.
Response to comment [from a Christian]: "Well it's a complex issue...How much "should" a satellite cost? Our satellites all sell for over $100 million each. Is that the "right" price to sell it at?"
Let the free market decide.
Obama plays on people's anger over the bank bonuses. At this point, the damage is done because the bailout money has been given out. No one stops to ask if it was wrong to bail out businesses in the first place. Conveniently, the argument now becomes--can government take profits from businesses? Socialists and communists say yes. Capitalists say no.
People are outraged. They say, "Sure they can. It's our money. We want it back." So, the precedent becomes--government can take profits when they decide someone has made too much money. Liberals value equality. Conservatives value liberty.
We should learn from our mistake and bite the bullet. But that won't happen. Obama is out to destroy free markets.
Clinton complained that children in Haiti can't even so much as get an aspirin for their pain? Why is that? Why don't people make and distribute medications in Haiti? Because the government does not trust the people. They hold them down.
We demonize the pharmaceutical companies not realizing that they have contributed to the quality of life for mostly everyone we know. When government bears down on them, stealing their profits, maybe they'll throw up their hands--bottles, pills and all--say, forget it. It's not worth the trouble. Then, we will be Haiti.
It's not a complex issue. Don't steal (taxes [Ex 20:15]). Don't
covet (Ex 20:17). Let free markets work. Don't let this
administration to play us for fools. "You never want a crisis to go to
waste (Rahm Emanuel)."
