Creation Is Religion Pt VIII
[An excerpt: Creation Is Religion by Ken Ham]
After I gave a lecture to a class at a Christian college in Kansas, using material similar to that discussed already (plus additional scientific evidence), a student stated in front of the rest of the class, “What you have said sounds logical and very convincing in regard to accepting Genesis as truth. But, you must be wrong, because my geology professor here at the college believes in evolution and would totally disagree with you. If he were here now, I’m sure he could tell me where you are wrong, even if I can’t see it at the moment.”
I replied, “Even if your geology professor were here and said things I don’t understand because I’m not a geologist, if what he says disagrees with the Bible, then he is wrong. If I can’t explain why he is wrong, it only means I don’t have the evidence to know the errors in his arguments. The Bible is the Word of God and is infallible. I’m sure I could get a creationist geologist to find out why your professor is wrong, because the Bible will always be right!”
Surely, as Christians blessed with the conviction that arises from the work of the Holy Spirit, we must accept the Bible as the infallible, authoritative Word of God—otherwise, we have nothing. If the Bible is to be questioned and cannot be trusted, and if it is continually subject to re-interpretation based on what men believe they have discovered, then we do not have an absolute authority. We do not have the Word of the One who knows everything, which means we have no basis for anything. Truth is spiritually discerned. Without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit there can be no real understanding. Creation Is Religion, Ham. http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/the-lie/chapter3.asp
Should students be exposed to creation and evolution in the classroom? The critic says: Creation isn't science. It's religion. We could say the same of evolution: Darwinism isn't science. It's atheism.
Response to comment [from an atheist]: "Quality not Quantity Serpent, didn't you learn that from your little timeout recently?"
Yes, forgive me I fell behind responding to a few of these posts. You must be happy-- Knight agrees with you--the god-hater. You control the schools, the newspapers, television, etc. What more do you want?
"That and ease up on posting copyrighted material..."
I have permission post excerpts from this material. A.I.G. would like the discussion to continue. The god-haters hate this information getting out. You win the battle. We win the war (Eph 6:12). Don't worry, they'll come a day when we're gone. You'll have to just recall these debates. Good luck with that.
"All you really end up doing is building up an archive of AIG excerpts, since you start so many you defend few (and even then you do so erratically and with more excerpts)."
I had hoped for an honest argument point by point. I should have posted a link to the entire Bible. You'd want that in one thread, too so that you can dismiss it. Am I right? I'm just milking the word of God (Jn 3:12).
Response to comment [from a Christian]: "SD I thought we agreed you would make one thread for things such as this and I thought we agreed you would stop milking the AIG so furiously. :cow:
Ok. I'll comply. I did not see the other post until today or I would not have started these new threads. Milk again.
