Federal Judge Declares National Day Of Prayer Unconstitutional

"A federal judge Thursday ruled that the annual National Day of Prayer is unconstitutional..
...MADISON, Wis. (April 15, 2010)--The law that established an annual National Day of Prayer was declared unconstitutional Thursday by a federal judge in Madison, Wis.

U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb issued the ruling in a lawsuit filed by the Freedom From Religion Foundation against President Barack Obama and White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

Congress established the day in 1952 and in 1988 set the first Thursday in May as the day for presidents to issue proclamations asking Americans to pray.

Crabb's injunction barring such proclamations won't take effect until possible appeals are exhausted.

White House officials said the president will still recognize the National Day of Prayer, despite the ruling Thursday..."

What are your thoughts on the state of our nation? Are we spiraling?

There were a lot of false stories going around too:

FALSE: National Day of Prayer 2010 Canceled by Obama

Anywho...lots of chit chat.

Do you think we should insist that White House celebrate the day?

"In God We Trust Calls on President to Celebrate National Day of Prayer Despite Court Ruling..

April 16 /Christian Newswire/ -- The national advocacy group In God We Trust today called on the Obama Administration to continue to vigorously defend the National Day of Prayer in court and for the President to issue the traditional Presidential proclamation next month despite a court ruling yesterday that the National Day of Prayer was unconstitutional.

"Prayer is never unconstitutional," says Bishop Council Nedd, In God We Trust's National Chairman. "American Presidents have led this nation in prayer since its founding. Yesterday's court ruling declaring the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional is one of the most egregious examples of out of control judges making law from the bench."
