Hard to Digest
The function of the human appendix—long derided as a useless leftover of evolution—has “finally” been uncovered. Doctors at Duke University’s medical school suggest that the appendix produces and protects “good germs” needed for proper digestion in the intestines.
Creationists, such as anatomist David Menton (formerly of the Washington University School of Medicine, now with Answers in Genesis–U.S.), have long recognized that the appendix must play a role in the immune system of our gut.
Over the decades, functions have been found for nearly every “vestigial” structure in our body. That is hardly a surprise to creationists, in contrast to some of their evolutionary colleagues.
