“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” (Matthew 24:37)
Regardless of how Christians may interpret Matthew 24 in regard to eschatology, there’s no doubt that this verse refers to the rebellion and judgment of Noah’s day. Christ used the catastrophic Flood that occurred over 4,300 years ago to warn of impending judgment. Many Christians believe this verse also alludes to the coming final judgment when Christ returns and makes a New Heaven and New Earth.
What was it like in Noah’s day?
Genesis 6:5 states, “Then
the Lord saw that the
wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every
intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil
continually
.”

Why an Ark?
Hebrews 11:7 declares, “By
faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet
seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the
saving of his household, by which he condemned the world
and became heir of the righteousness which is according
to faith.
”
Noah built the Ark to provide a way of salvation. He and his family went through a door to be saved. But the Ark was also a visual warning of the condemnation that was coming—a judgment of those who had rebelled and would not turn their hearts to God.
Why is the time right to build another Ark? Well, today there is great rebellion against God and His Word in the land. With increasing homosexual behavior and a growing acceptance of abortion, God’s hand of judgment is being seen as He withdraws the restraining influence of His Holy Spirit.
What is the state of the nation?
In many ways,
Genesis 6:5 could be used to describe what’s
happening in our once very Christianized Western world:
“Then the
Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in
the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his
heart was only evil continually.
”
Today, rebellion against God and His Word is rampant. By and large, God and His Word have been thrown out of government schools, public places, court houses, etc. In addition, many Christian leaders are rejecting God’s Word, especially in Genesis as they compromise with the pagan religion of our day: evolution and millions of years. Many of these Christian leaders and academics are even rejecting the literal Adam and Eve and the literal Fall.
This religion of the day leads to a mindset that justifies the killing of millions of children through abortion.
There is no doubt God is judging America. And one major recent sign of God’s judgment is that homosexual behavior is permeating the culture as God gives “people up” (or turns them over), according to Romans 1:24, 26. Many political leaders and judges are increasingly legalizing (and celebrating) same-sex “marriage,” which is an abomination to the Lord.
Even though there is a remnant of true believers, most of the culture and many in the American church are in rebellion against God, His authority, and His Word. For instance, here is a news item that must be anathema to our Holy God:
The National Cathedral is pealing its church bells, along with some other Washington churches, to celebrate the Supreme Court’s decisions on gay marriage. . . . Bells also rang at other Episcopal, Methodist, Presbyterian, Unitarian and other Christian churches.1
So why rebuild the Ark?
Just as in Noah’s day, the building of a full-size
Ark can stand as a reminder to the world of
salvation—that people need to go through a doorway to be
saved: “‘I am the door. If anyone
enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out
and find pasture’” (John
10:9).
And an Ark would also stand as a warning of coming judgment—to condemn those who reject God’s clear Word:
Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (2 Peter 3:3–7).
