Manhattan Declaration Calls on Christians to Practice Civil Disobedience

Response to comment [from other]: [Manhattan Declaration Calls on Christians to Practice Civil Disobedience]

The Manhattan Declaration calls on Christians to practice civil disobedience.  Bob Dutko said on his radio program today (paraphrased):  Scripture tells us to follow and obey the laws of man (Lk 20:22).  But when we are called to violate God's word, we have to be willing to break the law (e.g. Hebrew boys in scripture [Dan 3:12]).  When Christians are called upon to violate their faith (e.g. promote or get an abortion, stop proclaiming that homosexuality is a sin; stop saying that Jesus is the only way to heaven (Jn 14:6); stop teaching the Bible to children (Deut. 4:9–10); we must be prepared to allow God's word to trump when that day comes (Bob Dutko [radio program 25 Nov 09]).  What are your thoughts?

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "Read Macabees! (That is, if you can find it in your Bible.)"

Good recommendation (though it is not inspired scripture).

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "Here is something most of us should be able to agree on."

Consider the opposition [from John MacArthur]:  "Although I obviously agree with the document’s opposition to same-sex marriage, abortion, and other key moral problems threatening our culture, the document falls far short of identifying the one true and ultimate remedy for all of humanity’s moral ills: the gospel. The gospel is barely mentioned in the Declaration..." Full text: The Manhattan Declaration by John MacArthur

Response to comment [from other]:  "[T]he Bible tells people to do all sorts of violent things regarding other people."

Like what?  Are you insinuating that God is evil?
