[Joel Osteen shuts megachurch amid flooding crisis | nypost.com] “Televangelist Joel Osteen canceled services at his Houston megachurch Sunday and has yet to reopen its doors — despite the fact that thousands of flooded-out residents are desperately seeking shelter.

The perpetually smiling pastor told followers on Twitter on Monday to lean on their faith.

“Jesus promises us peace that passes understanding,” he wrote. “That’s peace when it doesn’t make sense.”

But Osteen’s comforting words didn’t sit well with critics, who want to know why the doors to his 16,800-seat arena at his Lakewood Church near downtown Houston are closed.

“You have taken so much money away from your people to live like a king,” entertainment publicist Danny Deraney blasted. “It’s the least you could do.” Joel Osteen shuts megachurch amid flooding crisis Mt 6:24, Mt 7:15

Are all prosperity preachers charlatans and/or false teachers?

What does the Bible say about the prosperity gospel?
Is “name it claim it” teaching biblical?

There is a scripture about someone who has 2 coats should give 1 to one who has nothing. Osteen is a false teacher. He has the means to shelter and aid others and yet shuts and locks the doors to his mega church.
God is not mocked. Osteen, will reap what he sows. As will everyone else.

His horns are showing (Jas 2:16).

Another thing that I would like to address is the lack of faith in God's promises that your title suggests.

 Strawman (Eph 4:14).

All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution (2 Ti 3:12).

If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first (Jn 15:18).

You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake (Mt 10:18a).

He didn't promise any of this in his megabucks church :greedy: now did he?

I would have thought a Church of that size should have been prepared to help those that need it.

"Your best life now." :freak: ~ Joel Olsteen

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Ps 27:13).

The Lost are not our enemies, they're our mission field.

They are prisoners of war (Eph 6:12).

The church was flooded...

Guess you'll believe everything he tell you (2 Pe 2:1).  :idunno:

[Flood] ...they have pictures.

Where did they get those? :idunno:

And I already said I don't like Osteen. It IS actually possible to defend people you don't like from false accusations.

You believe him. I do not (2 Pe 2:1).

I prefer clarity to agreement.” ~ Dennis Prager
