Obama Speech Bumps Charlie Brown Christmas & Gospel Message
This time of year, Linus Van Pelt gets his one chance
to share the gospel message with a lost and dying world in A Charlie Brown
Christmas. Do you think that Obama intentionally intercepted that message? (Eph
6:12).
[a spotlight shines on Linus]
Linus: "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field,
keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon
them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore
afraid. And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you
good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born
this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall
be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying
in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly
host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth
peace, good will toward men.'" (Lk 2:8-14).
[Linus picks up his blanket and walks back towards Charlie Brown]
Linus: That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.

Response to comment [from a pagan]: "Are you serious? A president intercepting a cartoon characters message, about anything? Your becoming more paranoid by the moment!"
I guess you don't notice the world around you:
"The lunch conversation inevitably turned to whether the White House would
display its crèche, customarily placed in a prominent spot in the East Room. Ms.
Rogers, this participant said, replied that the Obamas did not intend to put the
manger scene on display -- a remark that drew an audible gasp from the
tight-knit social secretary sisterhood. (A White House official confirmed that
there had been internal discussions about making Christmas more inclusive and
whether to display the crèche.)" Story:
No room for Jesus at the P.C. White House
"Maybe he actually takes the Constitution seriously, despite accusations to the opposite."
That "living and breathing" Constitution? The Constitution is not anti-Christian as Obama is.
"Face it, the US is not a Christian nation."
Obama agrees with you. However, our nation was founded by Christians.
The founders wanted that fact remembered. They also wanted Christianity to be promoted.
See:
Maybe you are right--we are post-Christian and post-America according to this president--how the mighty fall.
See:
"[I]t is a nation of many faiths, by design."
It was designed as a Christian nation with freedom of religion.
"That doesn't necessarily reflect on his personal faith."
Has he decided on a church yet?
"Or do you propose the Whitehouse have Menorahs and Holy Quhrans and smiling Buddhas and grimacing Khalis and elephant headed Ganeshas on display as well throughout the year?"
Why would I want false faiths promoted at the White House? Conservatives value liberty. Liberals value equality. I am the former. All faiths cannot be equally true (Christianity claims to be the only true faith [Jn 14:6].)
Response to comment [from a pagan]: "You do understand that some believe that this celebration is a personal one, to be shared with family?"
Our nation was founded as Christian. Christmas is a national holiday. Is "...a personal [holiday] shared with family" your way of saying "keep your Christmas to yourself"? Would you like Christians "in the closet"? Maybe that's where Michelle has decided to stuff the baby Jesus at this point.
"Or are you to busy looking for ways to denigrate, ridicule and just sticking your nose in other's business."
You mean the "people's White House"? Maybe that means all people but Christians in this God-hating White House.
Response to comment [from a Christian]: "I agree he has the right to display Christian ornamentation, but he doesn't have the obligation. Why does that have to be a problem? How he decorates his house is his choice, not ours."
The White House belongs to us not Obama. He should respect our history and culture. But of course he sets himself up to be a god (Ps 82:6). I speak about what should be not what will be.
"Nothing wrong with Christians who choose not to participate in the pomp and circumstance publicly, parading plastic renditions (or tastefully hand carved organic renditions for that matter) of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph on the front lawn."
That won't be happening any time soon. I would not suggest we have figures of the holy family in any form (Ex 20:4). God knows a Catholic may be around the corner who will start worshiping the idol (I keep all plastics and/or falafel mixes out of site when Catholics come to visit lest they start to envisioning images of Mary in the puree). It just demonstrates a continued and concerted effort to remove Christianity from our history and culture in America.
"Pro-freedom is not anti-Christian."
Anti-Christian is pro-slavery (Jn 8:34). Christianity is pro-liberty (Jn 8:32). Our founders knew this. Pro-freedom is American. Pro-equality is European.
"Most of the quotes on that individual's site (is it yours?) make mention of
God and Providence, not "promoting Christianity." Show me where "promote
Christianity" is in the Constitution and you have an argument, otherwise not."
"John Adams’ personal heterodox religion and his promotion
of Christianity in the Massachusetts state constitution of 1780 he helped to
pen. The relevant language in the state constitution is:
Article III...As the happiness of a people, and the good order and preservation of civil government, essentially depend upon piety, religion and morality; and as these cannot be generally diffused through a community, but by the institution of the public worship of God, and of public instructions in piety, religion and morality: Therefore, to promote their happiness and to secure the good order and preservation of their government, the people of this commonwealth have a right to invest their legislature with power to authorize and require, and the legislature shall, from time to time, authorize and require, the several towns, parishes, precincts, and other bodies politic, or religious societies, to make suitable provision, at their own expense, for the institution of the public worship of God, and for the support and maintenance of public Protestant teachers of piety, religion and morality, in all cases where such provision shall not be made voluntarily..." "Christians don't have to send missionaries to other continents any more to share the Word..."
That's right. Christ said "go into all the world" until the new season of Family Guy (Mk 16:15). Jesus sat down at the right hand of the Father (Heb 1:30. I don't recall him telling you to pull up a chair. We serve the living God. Our job is not complete until every last soul has heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. Imagine if the apostle Paul thought like you.
"Have faith in God's power through Christ, not the government, US or otherwise."
Is this your way of saying "pass the bonbons"?
"We don't need to be paranoid about losing our faith, unless our faith is weak."
When Jesus comes is it your plan to look busy not be busy? (Lk 10:2).
[Has [Obama] decided on a church yet?] "He had one until the right wing, in their usual fashion, drove him away from it with self righteous finger pointing and accusations."
It's all their fault (Ge 3:12,13; Ex 32:22-24). It's a right-wing conspiracy to encourage the President to attend church. Funny, it's never been a problem for any other U.S. President. But he sure picked that dog tout suite.
"Evangelicals today cause more people run from Christ than to follow him. That says a lot."
It's all their fault (Ge 3:12,13; Ex 32:22-24).
"Yes, liberals respect the foundation on which this country was created."
Yes, that is why they call documents they hate "living and breathing".
"Five days from now we will fundamentally change America" [Obama] (don't say we were not warned). If a man says to his wife "I want to fundamentally change you." Does that sound like love to you? Do you think Obama loves America? Our history? Our culture? Our values?
"Conservatives don't want freedom. Conservatives want everything their way. They want to be comfortable in an unchanging world."
"There are some things we shouldn't be dogmatic about. There are other things that we should be bulldogmaitc about." (Adrienne Rogers).
Obama can keep the "change"--and change is about all we have left now (Ingraham). Are you feelin' his love? Are you keepin' it real?----the man is a child (Prov 27:21). Leftists always are (Jn 10:10). He isn't fit to run a lemonade stand--much less a nation.
"Really wanting freedom requires faith and courage."
Leftists wouldn't know freedom if it came up and bit them on the butt.
Response to comment [from a Christian]: "Why does he have to leave out the baby Jesus?"
I think in the end they decided to unpack the baby Jesus who was headed for Siberia and put him where he belongs in the East Wing. But the fact that they even had this conversation at the White House is ridiculous.
Response to comment [from a pagan]: "So your saying that since it is a national holiday, the President doesn't have the right to have some private time with his family to celebrate Christ's birth in the manner they have been accustomed too?"
I don't think anyone would accuse the Obama's of celebrating Christmas. I bet each ornament on the tree disturbs them. Michelle has ornaments with roots and dirt on it. Lovely.
"Do you think that since he's black you can own him too..."
I've never owned a black. Hate those who did.
"I thought it was a day of celebration because your savior was born..."
The savior.
[Michelle stuffing baby Jesus in closet] "I don't think what the First Lady does is any of your business actually!"
She's living in our House--there goes the neighborhood.
"...[C]an't say that I like you much."
I bet I would avoid you at the office Christmas party, too.
"Keep your bigoted/racist hatred to yourself!"
Leftists are the bigots and racists. The Bible teaches we are one blood (Ac 17:26). How can I be a racist? I voted for the black guy (the good one), Alan Keyes.
Sexist, Islamophobe, xenophobe, homophobe, racist, bigot... You lefties need some new material.
Response to comment [from a Christian]: "For those of you who were too busy watching Obama make a fool of himself again, here's what you missed..."
Awesome! We get the message after all. Next year, they'll be on you--watch out. They'll muffle it like the adults that Charlie Brown speaks with on the phone, "Whaat whaah..."
Response to comment [from other]: "I nominate this thread for stupidest thread of the year award."
Well, at least you aren't threatening physical violence as some who agree with you have done: "Mayor Wiseman also says in the last week he's been threatened-- both verbally and physically..." Full text: Arlington Mayor Makes Statement About Facebook Controversy
Response to comment: "You talk as if you feel this is a preemptive strike on you religion? Are you for real?"
Are you awake? This is another example of "tolerance" for everything except Christianity.
