Obama "Firsts" by Congressman Tom Tancredo
Firsts for President Obama:
*First African-American to hold the office
*First to have to retake oath
*First who refused to attend the inaugural ball honoring medal of honor winners
*First President to greet Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi
*The first President to bow before foreign potentates including the Emperor of
Japan
*The first President to travel the world and apologize for America
*First President to give his first formal interview to a foreign news agency, Al
Arabia
*First President who set out to insult our foreign allies (returned the bust of
Churchill that had been given to us as a gift by the British people but who gave
the Queen a box of CDs, or their historical equivalence, as a gift from the
American people)
*The first President to ignore the National Day of Prayer
*The first sitting President to go on late night television chat shows
*He and First Lady, Michelle Obama, began eliminating any semblance of
Christianity from Christmas at the White House (first time communist dictator
Mao Tse-Tung and transvestite Hedda Lettuce were ever displayed on ornaments
hung on the White House Christmas tree).
*Mr. and Mrs. Obama became the first Presidential couple to celebrate Diwali,
the Hindu Festival of Lights and Ramadan, the Muslim holiday in the White House.
*He said (no other President has) "Islam has had a tremendous impact on the
development of the United States." Or that we should build our economy on five
pillars like the five pillars of Islam. And the first President to ever utter
the words "My Muslim faith". No other American President ever tried to defend
Sharia Law--as President, Obama did.
*First President to claim to have visited 57 states with one more to go before
he could say he'd been to all of them (excusable due to the fact that he did not
have a teleprompter available to him during that interview).
*The First President to have to use a teleprompter to speak to sixth graders in
their classroom.
*Although he is not the first President to be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize--he is
the first President to get it for doing absolutely nothing.
*First President to so thoroughly hate the essence of the nation he leads.

The first sitting President to go on late night television chat shows. These are notes. You may listen to the complete audio yourself (linked).
So you have no substantial argument? Obama is a child. Why don't you just admit it?
Response to comment [from a Muslim]: [Celebrate Ramadan] This is clearly not accurate. I think Bush was the first to institute this practice, holding it every single year of his presidency, Obama just followed suit. I think Clinton did it once or twice as well."
From your article:
"...Mr. Bush gave thanks for the many ways that Muslim Americans enrich the
lives of all Americans.
"One of the great strengths of our nation is its religious diversity. Americans
practice many different faiths. We all share a belief in the right to worship
freely. We reject bigotry in all its forms. And over the past eight years, my
administration has been proud to work closely with Muslim Americans to promote
justice and tolerance of all faiths," he said.
The president singled out some of those attending the Iftaar dinner, including
those who have worked on America's space program as well as those who have made
advances in health care and technology.
The biggest difference in the Bush- and Obama-era dinners is how the United
States' Bush-era war on terrorism figures into them. Obama has framed his Muslim
outreach largely as an effort to repair the damage to the U.S. image in the
Muslim world by the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Bush, by contrast, proudly invoked those wars during his final Ramadan dinner.
From Voice of America:
The president said the United States has partnered with Muslims around the world
to spread freedom. "We are helping the people of Iraq and Afghanistan build free
societies after decades of tyranny. And during the month of reflection, we will
remember all the brave Muslim Americans who wear the uniform of the United
States armed forces. They represent the best of our nation. I am honored to be
their Commander-in-Chief," he said.
Tancredo said (I paraphrase) "*Mr. and Mrs. Obama became the first Presidential couple to celebrate...Ramadan, the Muslim holiday in the White House."
Mr. and Mrs. Bush hosted an "Iftaar dinner [which is] breaking the fast during the holy month of Ramadan." Maybe Tancredo meant to distinguish "hosting" vs. "celebrating" (since Obama is a Muslim).
Response to comment [from a Christian]: [Globalism]
I think both Bush and Obama have worked toward that end, frankly.
See:
Response to comment [from a Christian]: "Obama is a 'child' of the elites--just like all the recent presidents."
No argument here. Bush was Obama light, really. Do you believe the people we are fighting are evil though?
Response to comment [from a Satanist]: "He wasn't the first to retake the oath."
You may be right. Please clarify.
Response to comment [from a Satanist]: "I'm not sure how I can make this any clearer: Obama was not the first president to retake the oath of office. Coolidge was sworn in by his father..."
What does that have to do with anything? :idunno: We were speaking about re-taking oaths.
"...and I think Arthur swore the oath twice after Garfield's assassination."
"President Arthur took the oath of office twice. The first time was at his Lexington Avenue residence, when it was given just past midnight on September 20. The oath was given by New York Supreme Court justice John R. Brady. The second time was two days later after he returned to Washington. This time it was given in the Capitol by Chief Justice of the United States Morrison Waite. This was to avoid any dispute over whether the oath was valid if given by a state official. (A similar situation later occurred with Calvin Coolidge...)" Full text: Chester A. Arthur

constitutional lawyers and retook the oath of office Wednesday that Chief
Justice John Roberts flubbed the first time around..." Full text:

"If Tancredo can't even get some basic history straight there's zero reason to
pay attention to the rest of the nonsense he's pushing."
What exactly did Tancredo get wrong?
Response to comment [from a "Christian"]: "[H]e's saying what she wants to hear...."
Again, you and the Satanist will have to articulate what Tancredo got wrong.
Response to comment [from a Christian]: [Mockingly] "Has anyone mentioned he's the first terrorist sympathizing Muslim to be President?"
Good point. But that's just a given with "My Muslim faith." Mt 7:16.
Response to comment [from a "Christian"]: "Several inaccuracies have already been pointed out, and I have never seen you acknowledge any correction of any of your errors..."
Let the reader decide. The only demonstratable error to my understanding from his audio was when he misspoke--Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi (Libya...Syria...honestly. Does it really matter? ) In that region of the world, they worship a terrorist for a god. This was the main point.
"You're not here to discuss ideas or facts, you're here to cut-and-paste..."
I referred to my own edited notes taken from the audio.
"Truth is hate to those who hate the truth." Enyart
Response to comment [from a Satanist]: "We were talking about retaking an oath, period..."
You were talking about retaking the oath, period. Tancredo was talking about an occurrence of a flub up and the decision to retake an oath, period. It wasn't not completely Obama's fault either. Listen to the audio yourself. It's really not the big deal that you are trying to make it.
...You love this president, don't you.
"You believed him and didn't a) think for yourself..."
I don't overly care for Tancredo myself. However, his highlighting these "firsts" served as a reminder of who Obama really is. That is what the reader should have gained.
"...or b) bother to double-check anything Tancredo claimed."
I checked on the Libya/Syria thing and posted that correction. Tancredo misspoke but his point remains.
"The Barbarian already demonstrated how much Tancredo got wrong..."
You accepted that. I did not. Let the reader decide.
The only valid critique so far was the Libya/Syria point (and somewhat) Abu Rashid's point regarding the Ramadan dinner. Tancredo was careful in the way he phrased it (again, listen to the audio yourself, my notes were edited). Previous presidents have hosted dinners but Obama was the first to celebrate the dinner (I think was his point) because Obama is a Muslim.
He also referred to Obama's comment "My Muslim faith" which should have helped to shed light on that issue--maybe he could have been clearer on that point. I think most people up on politics and religion realize that Obama is a Muslim (maybe I'm wrong). It was--what--a one minute bit? I don't know that Tancredo had time to develop that point.
If you are dying to know what he meant, why don't you email him? I am not a Tancredo apologist.
"You look foolish accepting this little "list" hook, line, and sinker..."
Yes, well you always say this.
"If you want to criticize Obama (and we both know he's very deserving of criticism) why don't you actually do so with something substantial?"
I think you need a new playbook.
"Rule 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.
"By doing this the radical attempts to marginalize key figures in the opposition by isolating these figures and making them unpalatable, thereby separating leadership from the conservative base. This either wins converts or at least neutralizes the ability to mobilize around a countering viewpoint.
Nonsensible’s Counter – These personalizations must be pointed out for what they are – the attempt to avoid real debate on issues by demonizing legitimate viewpoints that at the very least should be debated on their own merits.
If liberals can’t stand up to real debate on their ideas or ours, then their ideas must lack credibility beyond ridicule and derision. Demand factual debate. Challenge them to discuss and when they refuse they will rightly be portrayed as afraid, unprepared or intellectually incapable of honest debate..." Response to comment [from a "Christian"]: "Even when it's [truth] shown to you, you turn away from it..."
I don't accept the refutations as truth. You do. We disagree. The reader will have to decide.
You may be right--that Tancredo was in error in a few of his points. I have looked into the claims (corrected one) and rejected the others as having no merit because they do not speak to the points he made in my opinion.
I am sure Tancredo would answer any additional questions or arguments that you might have. Maybe he'd find this thread interesting? Maybe he'd say I'm out to lunch, too. Don't know?
And on the point you made about truth. Again, you have it backward (as libs tend to do). We conservatives plow through truth. You liberals go around truth. You deny truth just as you deny Jesus (Jn 3:19). He is truth incarnate after all (Jn 14:6).
That is why you are a: pro-abort, pro-homosexual, humanist. Obviously, truth deniers come to these conclusions.
"Love is hate to those who hate the truth (Enyart)."
Response to comment [from "[I]t was the Chief Justice who flubbed the line, not Obama..."
That is correct. That is why I mentioned it.
"It was not up to him [Obama] to administer the oath."
That's right. We talked about that, too. Obama decided to retake it.
"[B]ig deal...Tancredo is trying to make it...He was the one who was peddling the story..."
This "story" occurred. Tancredo discussed "firsts" for Obama. Maybe he had a problem with Obama desiring to retake the oath. We know how he loves to hear his own voice. Other men might have said, "Who cares. Let's get on with the business of running the country." Not Obama. Obama loves Obama , I think this was his point.
"The one he got right is "African-American.""
And every other point except for Libya/Syria. He misspoke on that.
"African-American...". I have many friends who are African-American. One is white.
"For most people, that's not an issue anymore."
Then why are you talking about it.
"Obama is a Christian."
You believe him. I don't (Pr 22:6).
"[There] aren't many people gullible enough to still believe he's a Muslim."
They love you.

"As Granite says, there are entirely real reasons to criticize Obama."
That is because Graniteheart likes arguments to go away. He draws to Saul Alinsky like a moth draws to light. When Granite covers his eyes with his wooby at night, he hopes all arguments will be gone (Isa 48:22). But, he returns each day to curse the light (Eph. 5:8–14).

"Tancredo seems completely unaware..."
Ad hominem.
"...[A]rguing that Obama hates America..."
If a man wants to "transform" his wife, does he really love her? You don't wish to transform your wife if you love her and you don't wish to transform your country if you love it.
"For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country..." Michelle Obama.
I guess you only love your country as long as you are in the White House.
Response to comment [from a Satanist]: "Another example of you not having a single original thought."
I have plenty of original thoughts. Which one did you wish to discuss?
"I'm not a liberal, never have been."
(Re 22:11).
"I'm a gun owning..."
Good
"...pro-life"
Good but you support pro-aborts. So, what good does that do?
"...libertarian..."
Immoral conservative (Enyart).
"...[Y]ou're acting more and more like a troll lately so I'm not sure you're interested in any facts..."
I like facts. But you've been around TOL for a long time. Why haven't you moved right? Or have you moved right on any position?
