Once saved always saved

If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father (1 Jn 2:24).

Response to comment [from a Christian]: [2 Ti 2:13]

If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself [2 Tim. 2:13].

"God “cannot deny himself.” He cannot accept as true one who is false. That’s the reason He gave such a scathing denunciation of the religious rulers of His day. He called them hypocrites because they were pretending to be something they were not. If Christ accepted someone who was not genuine, He actually would be denying Himself because He is true. Therefore, we should be genuine, my friend." McGee, J. V. (1991). Thru the Bible commentary: The Epistles (1 and 2 Timothy/Titus/Philemon) (electronic ed., Vol. 50, p. 109). Nashville: Thomas Nelson.

"Right! Those of us who are saved are "His Body". There's not a thing we can do to mess up our salvation!"

Yes. No one is getting around John's "if" in 1 John 2:24. If you don't abide--if you don't remain--you were never his. Your justification was a fraud. As my pastor likes to say a Christian produces fruit. If you're not producing fruit--you're not a Christian (Mt 7:20). You're not going to get good fruits from bad roots and you're not going to get bad fruits from good roots.

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us (1 Jn 2:19).

But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 1 Jn 3:16–17.

Christians love one another (Jn 13:35). All the rest are butcher murderers (1 Jn 3:10-17). They steal, kill, destroy--and that's all they do (Eccl 10:2, Jn 10:10).

When people come to your home for dinner, do they wash their hands before the meal or do you ask them to take a shower?

"Jn 13:10 needs only to wash his feet. The cleansing that Christ does at salvation never needs to be repeated-atonement is complete at that point. But all who have been cleansed by God’s gracious justification need constant washing in the experiential sense as they battle sin in the flesh. Believers are justified and granted imputed righteousness (Phil. 3:8, 9), but still need sanctification and personal righteousness (Phil. 3:12–14)." MacArthur, J., Jr. (Ed.). (1997). The MacArthur Study Bible (electronic ed., p. 1611). Nashville, TN: Word Pub.

"[S]ssssserpents call the faith of Jesus Christ a fraud!"

Proof please.

Why do you think Jesus said forgive us out debts?

"Mt 6:12 forgive us our debts. The parallel passage (Luke 11:4) uses a word that means “sins,” so that in context, spiritual debts are intended. Sinners are debtors to God for their violations of His laws (see notes on 18:23–27). This request is the heart of the prayer; it is what Jesus stressed in the words that immediately follow the prayer (vv. 14, 15; cf. Mark 11:25)." MacArthur, J., Jr. (Ed.). (1997). The MacArthur Study Bible (electronic ed., p. 1403). Nashville, TN: Word Pub.

"Get saved serpent..."

Meet his condition (e.g. abide) and you can live (1 Jn 2:24). The command implies the ability to obey it. If you don't meet the conditions, the dangers are very real (Ferguson).

[Once Saved Always Saved is the Gospel]

The term once saved always saved is not in scripture.

Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the Lord hath rejected them (Je 6:30).

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven (Mt 10:33).

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day (Jn 12:48).

But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned (Heb 6:8).

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries (Heb 10:26–27).

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons (Heb 12:7–8).
