Just before I was to give my final keynote talk at AiG’s very successful Answers Mega Conference in July, my heart was filled with praise. Why? I had just watched hundreds of excited children come into the hall shouting and praising God after their week-long teaching program at the conference.

These happy kids had just gone through our powerful AiG Vacation Bible School (VBS) program Kingdom Chronicles. They learned how to put on the “whole armor of God” so that they would be equipped to fend off the “the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6).

The Bible warns us that the Devil (the wicked one) is “like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). We are also warned that the Devil “is a liar and the father” of lies (John 8:44).

God’s Word instructs us to teach our children the Scriptures and to equip them so they won’t be led astray by the Wicked One. Thankfully, we are told that Christ has paid for our sins so that we could be rescued from this “evil age” (Galatians 1:4), our theme for 2014.

Yes, the Wicked One is out to get our children, and one way he does this is through spreading lies. One of the Devil’s greatest lies is that there is no God and that His Word is not true. Sadly, tens of millions of children are being taught “the lie” in schools, museums, and the media—that they are just evolved animals and that everything in the universe is explained by natural processes, not supernatural acts. They are being indoctrinated in the lie of evolutionary atheism, which permeates the culture. The lie of evolution is one of the greatest delusions of our age. That’s why the title of my best-known book is The Lie.

Defending our children from dangers

The Bible warns us: “And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie” (2 Thessalonians 2:11). Today we see so many people rebelling against God’s Word. They are rejecting true marriage, supporting the wanton killing of unborn babies, and rejecting creation. God has turned them over to the wickedness of their hearts. They are spreading the great “lie” that God’s Word is not the authority.

How diligent we must be to teach children the truth of God’s Word and equip them with the armor they need so they won’t believe “the lie.”

Sadly, the vast majority of this generation of kids is being captured by the enemy. That’s why in my final keynote address, I warned that we need to rescue our kids from:

  1. The Evil One
  2. This evil generation
  3. Secularists out to capture our youth
  4. Churches teaching bad apologetics
  5. Churches and their compromise over biblical authority
  6. Many Sunday school programs
  7. Many Christian institutions, like compromising Christian colleges

It’s not only the world we have to be concerned about influencing our children. You see, much of the church has compromised God’s Word with the pagan religion of our age. That religion is a vain attempt to explain life without God (through evolution/ millions of years), thus undermining the authority of Scripture.

As I looked down from the stage upon those hundreds of children, I thought about the thousands of churches across this nation that are now using AiG’s uniquely powerful VBS programs and the incredible Answers Bible Curriculum (Sunday school program), as well as the other curricula AiG has been able to produce over the years.

The uniqueness of AiG curricula is that they don’t just entertain, and they don’t teach Bible accounts the way the world teaches fables. AiG’s curricula teach children and adults about the importance of believing and accepting the full history and authority of God’s Word. And we teach how to defend the Christian faith in today’s secularized world. Our resources are full of “meat,” and yes, children love the in-depth teaching (so do the adults)!

The nationwide response to our Answers Bible Curriculum and this year’s VBS program Kingdom Chronicles has been beyond what we could have ever hoped for, meaning extra runs at the printer!

I can’t wait to see the response to next year’s VBS called International Spy Academy. Kids will search out who the One true God is, and they will compare Jesus Christ to false religions.

Yes, children and adults are getting saved through these curricula, and many are now on-fire for the Lord!

More than ever, Christians need to be equipped to be in the full armor of Ephesians 6 so that they can be properly engaged in the spiritual battle raging all around us.
