Creation Outreach on Your College Campus
You don’t have to be a fanatic (although you might be called one) to promote creationism on your college campus. You just have to be a follower of Christ with a heart to see others believing Him and His Word on creation. Explore the following ways to promote creationism, and send in your own ideas too.
- Hang up creation articles or short slogans on bulletin boards around campus. Include a link to www.answersingenesis.org so people can search for more information.
- Employ social media to share biblical creation. “Like” a creation science article through Facebook, or tweet about a current science news item.
- Ask your librarian about purchasing a subscription to Answers magazine for your school library.
- Choose a creation science project, or write a creationist research paper.
- Invite an AiG speaker to your school, request a video conference, or take a few students to a local creationist event.
- Strike up a conversation with classmates, asking if they agree with the evolutionary perspective taught in class that day. Focus on how people’s worldviews influence the way they interpret the evidence. Show how the evolutionist must borrow from the biblical worldview to be able to reason, perform science, and uphold morality.
- Ask your science professor for permission to show a short video from AiG in class that relates to a topic you’re learning.
- Organize a road trip to the Creation Museum or a “creation destination” near your school.
- Give a speech on an evolution vs. creation topic, perhaps using AiG PowerPoint or Keynote presentations.
- Start a creation group on campus and facilitate regular meetings. Answers in Genesis offers several curricula and DVD sets that would work extremely well for such gatherings.
- Interview students with a short list of questions about origins, such as “How do you believe this world came into existence?” Springboard into a personal conversation explaining how you came to an understanding of the biblical worldview. You may finish by sharing the gospel and giving a tract.
As you shake out the salt and shine the light, remember your ultimate goal isn’t to see evolutionists become creationists, but to see them come to know the Creator. Your desire should be to show people the credibility of the biblical worldview in order to reach the ultimate goal in creation outreach—that by God’s grace they will turn to the Creator and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
