Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  “If we are saved by grace then everyone would be saved…”

See:

Is universalism / universal salvation Biblical?

“Do you think everyone is saved?”

Few are saved (Mt 7:14).

“So why are some saved and others not?”

Denial (Tit 1:16), indifference (Lk 17:26–30), rebellion (De 9:23; Ps 106:24,25), etc.

“So the difference is in what we do?”

What you can “do” is believe.

After condition comes contrition (Rogers). Mt 5:3, Ro 6:19.

Why?  What do you believe this would prove?

Do you think our belief will be tested like Abraham's was?

You will appear at the Great White Throne Judgment because you insisted on being judged by your works (Re 20:11).  The verdict is in--your works are insufficient to save you (Psa. 49:7, 8; Psa. 127:1, 2; Eccl. 1:14; Isa. 43:26; Isa. 57:12; Isa. 64:6; Ezek. 7:19; Ezek. 33:12–19; Dan. 9:18; Matt. 5:20; Luke 17:7–10; Luke 18:9–14; Acts 13:39; Rom. 3:20–31; Rom. 4:1–8 vs. 9–22.; Rom. 8:3; Rom. 9:16, 31, 32; Rom. 11:6; 1 Cor. 13:1–3; Gal. 2:16, 19, 21; Gal. 3:10–12, 21 vs. 1–29.; Gal. 4:9–11; Gal. 5:2, 4, 6, 18; Gal. 6:15; Eph. 2:8, 9; Phil. 3:3–9; Col. 2:20–23; 2 Tim. 1:9; Tit. 3:4, 5; Heb. 4:3–10; Heb. 6:1, 2; Heb. 9:1–14; Jas. 2:10, 11).

The believer will appear at the Bema seat to receive a reward (Rom. 14:10).  He did not trust in his own work.  He trusted in Christ’s work on the cross (Re 1:15).

Response to comment [from a Christian]:  “Actually:  that is referring to the faith of those that found it in these latter days.”

Do you think some will be upset when they learn that their loved ones will not go to heaven? Re 7:17.

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  “The Scriptures were given by God through the Catholic Church.”

The scriptures were given by God long before the Roman Catholic Church (2 Ti 3:16). They will be around long after the Roman Catholic Church (Re 9:2). They are full and sufficient (Lu 16:29,31), an unerring guide (Pr 6:23; 2 Pe 1:19),profitable for doctrine and practice (2 Ti 3:16,17). Everything should be tried by the word of God (Isa 8:20; Ac 17:11) not the Roman Catholic Church.

If you’d like to be relevant in God’s kingdom, you’ll obey God’s word (
Mt 7:24; Lu 11:28; Jas 1:22).

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "According to the NT, works enabled by God are grace (Rom. 2:6-7; 1 Cor. 15:10; Phil. 2:12-13).

The gospel is not one grace not works (Eph 3:2, Ac 14:3; 20:24, 20:32). You attempt to pervert it (Gal. 1:7).

Understand the spirit of antichrist [
1 Jn 4:2-6]. The Jesus test, the gospel test, and the fruit test.

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "[W]e are saved through the preaching of the Gospel by men, which happens through the Holy Spirit. Romans 10..."

Your church is not Israel. Replacement theology (Roman Catholic teaching) is false. We are saved by grace through faith (Eph 2:8-9).

"God’s Present Purpose with Israel, Chapter 10
Present State of Israel—Lost, Chapter, 10:1–4
(Reason: Christ is the end of the law for righteousness.)
Present Standing of Israel—Same as Gentiles, Chapter 10:5–12
(“For there is no difference”)
Present Salvation for Both Jew and Gentile—Hear and Believe the Gospel, Chapter 10:13–21"

What is replacement theology / supersessionism? How does Israel fit into God's plan for the church age? Has the church replaced Israel?

"[A]re we created in Christ Jesus for something less than grace itself?"

You have not been born again (Jn 3:7).  You preach a false gospel of works (Gal. 1:7).  That is why Christians reject your message.  They are set apart by God to share the truth with others (Phil. 1:7, 16, 27).  Religions is work-based.  Christianity is faith-based.

Your sin remains, Denver; because you have not believed.  Bad doggie!  :( (Lev. 4:3; Ezra 9:6, 13, 15) http://www.theologyonline.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2617294&posted=1#post2617294

Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth [John 9:40–41].
"We began with a blind man who was healed so that he saw, both physically and spiritually. We end with religious rulers who were terribly, tragically blind, yet who thought they could see. In the presence of Christ, in the presence of the Light, in the presence of the revelation of God, they said they had no sin.
Some of the most dogmatic people today are the atheists and the cultists. They say they see, but they are blind. They reject the Lord Jesus Christ, and so their sin remains. Although they are not walking around with a white walking stick, they are blind."
McGee, J. Vernon: Thru the Bible Commentary. electronic ed. Nashville : Thomas Nelson, 1997, c1981, S. 4:428-429

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "[C]an't you discuss your beliefs without quoting the bible?"

Spoken like a true Catholic (2 Co 4:3, 4).

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "Of course, because we know that merely quoting the Bible as a way of trying to prop up one's personal theological opinions (as you like to do)..."

Ad hominem.  Truth is truth independent from me.  You do not obey the gospel (Eph 3:2, 2 Thess. 1:8).

"[N]ot by faith alone..."

We are saved by grace alone (Eph 2:8-9), through faith alone (Eph 1:13; 2Ti 1:10), in Christ alone (Isa 45:21,22; 59:16; Ac 4:12).  You will not steal God's glory (Ho 4:7).

"Once again, you publically demonstrate that you have absolutely no idea what "ad hominem" even means..."

Ad hominem.

[You do not obey the gospel of grace.]  "I do not obey serpent's personal notion of grace."

Ad hominem. Truth is truth independent from me.

You removed the scripture. I'll return it to the conversation (
Eph 3:2, 2 Thess. 1:8). That is what you Catholics do, isn't it? Jn 10:10.

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "Go ahead and demonstrate where the words "faith alone" appear in these verses..."

Does the word "trinity" appear in the Bible? Mt 3:16,17; 28:19; Ro 8:9; 1 Co 12:3-6; 2 Co 13:14; Eph 4:4-6; 1Pe 1:2; Jude 1:20,21; Re 1:4,5. You are not interested in truth. You are a grace-perverter (Gal. 1:6–8), bound by traditions (Mt 15:9), deceitful in all your ways (Eph. 4:14).

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "Why doesn't grace save everyone?"

Hope in the Lord (1 Pet. 1:13).

"Do you consider that an answer to the question?"

Where is your hope?  In your dead works? Eccl. 12:14.

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "In Jesus."

Which Jesus?

Which Jesus Will You Trust?

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "So grace only works if you don't do any works?"

So we are saved by grace through faith not of works (Eph 2:8-9).

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "Why doesn't grace save everyone?"

Huh? What?

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "So if you reject the gospel you are not saved why can't grace save you if you reject the Bible?"

What? huh? 2 Ti 3:7.

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: "…[I]t is because of what they do or don't do…”

Doo doo. You can’t do a thing to save yourself. Accept God’s free gift of grace (Eph 2:8-9). It cost him everything (Isa 53:5).

Response to comment [from a Christian]: “Another way to put it is that everyone is unique and irreplaceable. Thank God for our differences.”

That too.
