Should Christians Seek Justice in Court or in the Church?
Response to comment [from other]: "I'm still pondering if Calvinists hold their views because they are too lazy to be accountable for their inaction?"
I agree. Where is the sincerity (2 Cor 2:17)?
"The neighbor of a Christian is another Christians and according to Jesus there are few Christians on earth."
That's right. There are more make-believers than there are believers (Mt 7:13). With our (actual) brethren we should be more tolerant. It is ridiculous to have the wicked world have to decide right and wrong for us in court.
"[People] sought to unrighteous-ly [sic] return...Christians to bondage under law..."
We should worship in unity (1 Pe 3:8). If we must return to the law, then I guess we've all been getting it wrong (Ga 3:28). A child of God in good standing is going to obey God (Jn 15:15).
"'[T]urn the other cheek' is not limited to brothers...We are to love the enemy (τοὺς ἐχθροὺς), the word used for enemy literally means the ones who beares hatred towards you...Paul repeats this in Romans 12:14 and 12:17-21. Evil can only be conquered with good, otherwise you are just joining forces with evil."
That's true. Joel Rosenberg came to our church this weekend. He is a fine example of Christ's love. He reaches out to an enemy literally trying to kill him. One man said that he was glad he had not met him years ago. Why? "I would have killed you instantly," he said. But he embraced Joel saying, "My brother!" because now he is a believer in Jesus.
We can say to God, "But my enemy is trying to kill me!" He knows. And he says to love them (Mt 5:44).
Some teach that they do God's will to kill us. But we die to ourselves so that others can live.
