Today’s big question: to whom does Scripture point?

Today, so many of us rely on a GPS in our cars to help us find the destination we want to arrive at. My GPS locates the destination and makes it the central point for my journey. Whether I am north, south, east or west of that point, the GPS will guide me, and the arrow in the middle of the screen will point me in the direction I must take to get there.

Whether we like it or not, the Bible is the only accurate GPS for every human being, and Jesus Christ is definitely the central point. Wherever we are in God’s Word, it will always point us to Jesus Christ as the one and only Savior for all who will believe. Jesus Christ is the consistency in the message of the Bible, and everything associated with the world’s history has its centrality in Christ.

In the next series of devotionals we shall take a brief walk through Scripture to see this central and consistent message shining through. It is important to note, though, that this is not the only consistency we find in God’s Word. Apart from the main and central message of Christ, the Bible has always proven to be consistent in the accuracy of its details as it relates to logic, history, science, morality and every other area. For this series however, we will focus our attention on the one consistent and fundamental message.

When the Lord God created this world, it was perfect—without death, disease, suffering or sin—and our verse today tells us of the one warning that was given to humanity. To disobey God was to come under the consequence of His judgment. Mankind’s sin led to death and judgment and as a result this world has had a historical trail of death, suffering and disease. Also, since this time, humanity has had one overwhelming need—the need for a savior. Starting in the first verses of Genesis, the Bible gives us an accurate record of the history of this world and teaches us the one message every human needs to know. This world is no longer perfect. Sinning against our Creator has ruined this world and placed mankind under His judgment and the creation under His curse. As a result, we desperately need a Savior. From the beginning to the end, the Bible points to the problem and its cure: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Messiah, the risen Lord, and the conquering King is the central point and focus of Scripture.  http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/2010/07/28/scripture-point
