UNICEF Turns Santa Claus Into Poor-Hating Jerk In Christmas Ad Campaign

[UNICEF Turns Santa Claus Into Poor-Hating Jerk In Christmas Ad Campaign by Tim Graham] "If you find it off-putting that Best Buy is sticking it to Santa Claus in its "Game On, Santa" ads, that is nothing compared to a new ad by UNICEF (much better known for Halloween.) The New York Daily News is one of the few major media outlets to notice UNICEF turned Santa into a jerk.

"Santa won't bother going to poor countries this year, so the United Nations Children's Fund will go instead," reporter Roque Planas, "or at least that's the message behind a satirical new UNICEF advertisement released in Sweden..." Full text:

Response to comment [from a Christian]: "Whaddya expect from a bunch of communists sd?

This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the truth behind UNICEF:

"The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), still reeling from a controversial Madonna fundraiser last February, finds itself embroiled in yet new questions over how much money raised by the world body through its annual holiday greeting card sales actually makes it to those in need.

Now an internal audit conducted by the UN General Assembly and obtained by Newsmax, states flatly that not enough is making it to the less fortunate.

UNICEF figures show that its holiday greeting card sales campaign is one of its most profitable endeavors, raising more than $155 million in 2007.

However, just over $60 million, or about 39 percent of total funds, actually made it to those in need in 2007."

A timely reminder--we will give an account (Rom. 14:12, Prov. 3:9, 10; Mal. 3:10–12; 2 Cor. 9:6–8).

I remember on a flight once, one of these UNICEF bags went around the airplane collecting foreign coins from people returning to the US. I remembered J. Vernon McGee saying that we are responsible for where we give as well. How do they use the money? Are they faithful to the Lord?
Campus Crusade for Christ, for example, removed "Christ" from their name.

Response to comment [from other]: "You're presenting Santa Claus as God.  Unreal."

Santa loves God and he lives with God but he is not God (2 Cor 5:8). God remains the creator and Saint Nicholas his creation (Eccl. 12:1).
