[Where Were You? by Steve Ham] Claims of an eyewitness account can be really important. I was not alive during the days when my mother was at school, but she has told me some wonderful accounts of what happened during her school years. I have also had the privilege of visiting the area where my mother went to school, so I was able to confirm the places, the buildings, and even some of the people she told me about. While I can’t prove every detail of every account that my mother told me, there are a couple of very important elements I can consider: (1) based on the evidence that I have researched, I've come to the conclusion that her stories are fairly accurate, and (2) my mother has proven to me that she is a trustworthy source.

Now consider this with regards to God and His Word. God gives us a rich history in His Word. He has given us an account of creation, the corruption of the original creation through sin, the catastrophic judgment on creation through a global Flood, the confusion of languages at the Tower of Babel, and a narrative of the lineage to Jesus Christ through the Jewish people, God’s chosen nation—among a number of other things.

While using God’s Word as our starting point, a proper understanding of the evidence confirms the biblical history as it relates to biology, geology, astronomy, anthropology, and archeology, and the evidence is totally consistent and overwhelming within the biblical worldview.

God in His Word has also proven Himself to be a completely reliable source (even though God has no need to prove Himself of anything). In God’s Word, we read of a true and reliable consistency in God’s character displayed in His actions toward a rebellious humanity. God has also shown unwavering faithfulness in His actions of judgment in this world where we all suffer death as a result of sin. His faithfulness has also been clearly displayed through the fulfilled prophecies concerning our Savior, Jesus Christ.

God as the perfect eyewitness is the most trustworthy testimony we can possibly have. Only a perfect eyewitness that could be at every historical event from the beginning of time—and at every moment in time—can be a fully reliable authority. We should also expect that any physical evidence we have today would confirm the narrative of that history. This is exactly what we find in God’s Word.  http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/2010/06/24/where-were-you
