Why Atheism is not the default position

Response to comment [from an atheist]:  "And lightning looks designed which points to a big guy up there throwing it at people when he is mad."

You disagree with Ps 19:1?

Response to comment [from a Christian]:  "...[A]theism is a worthless philosophical viewpoint..."

True. Their reasons for rejecting God are emotional and spiritual not logical (1 Cor 2:14). They must repent (1 Cor 12:3; 2 Ti 2:15).

"It's illogical...illogical!" ~ Sarek, Star Trek

Response to comment [from an atheist]:  "I've never had that "natural" expectation or that "natural" understanding."

Someone's not telling the truth (Ro 1:18). You know there's a God. Always the game player.

Response to comment [from a Christian]:  "It is easier to believe in God than not..."

But added assumptions are so fun, you see (Heb 11:25).

See:

Why Did God Make Viruses?

Response to comment [from a Christian]:  "...[P]eople become atheists as time goes by..."

They know there's a God. They reject him (Ro 1:18).

Response to comment [from other]:  "...to accuse others of dishonesty just because they don't believe the same as the fundies..."

I would never do such a thing. God would (Ro 1:18).

Response to comment [from a Christian]:  "You can't start from a default position that there is no God because you need something to negate before you can negate it..."

"The atheist cannot account for (1) the existence of laws of logic, (2) why they are immaterial, (3) why they are universal, (4) why they do not change with time, and (5) how human beings can possibly know about them or their properties..." ( The New Answers Book 3, Ham, pg. 268).

Wasn't the Bible Written by Mere Men?

Response to comment [from other]:  "Your source is a book written by humans..."

You know that's not true.

See:

Inspired Scripture

Response to comment [from a Christian]:  "I assume you are ignoring the inspiration factor?"

He'd never do that. "I can't hear you..."

Response to comment [from other]:  "Lol...now you're lying again..."

Guess we'll have to wait and see (Heb 10:31, Ac 5:3).

"Fundies like to claim that the Bible is "inspired by God". Okay...but what is the source of that statement...the Bible itself?  You mean...it's true just because a book says it's true? Cool. That means every book on evolution is true...because I say it's true."

Who says? Man? Go with that then (Re 22:11).

"...[I]t certainly doesn't mean that, because the Bible claims it was "inspired" by God...that God actually exists..."

You'll have to ask God about that. He's a good source (1 Chron 22:19).

By the way, are you transcendent?

See:

Wasn't the Bible Written by Mere Men?

Response to comment [from a Christian]:  "Did humans know that the universe was expanding when the Bible was written..."

Design says something about the designer. Sort of describes his love for us (Ro 8:39).

Response to comment [from an atheist]:  [So that they don't have to think]:  "No true atheist would say that."

There are no "true" atheists (Ro 1:18).

Response to comment [from an atheist]:  "Sort of like my loony Uncle Floyd: I know he exists, but I behave as if he doesn't.  Is that the type of rejection you're talking about?"

You admit you are not all-knowing (omniscient); You know you were not present at creation (omnipresent); You realize that you did not/nor could you stop the inspiration of scripture (omnipotent)--so is it God's character that you call into question?  You believe he is not worthy of worship?

Response to comment [from an atheist]:  [Vid:  "It ain't necessarily so"]

I figured you for a show tunes guy.

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: [An atheist toying with a Catholic] "Is it possible, then, for a person to have a "closed" heart and be unaware of it?"

Response to comment [from other]:  [Energy] ...[I]t went somewhere in the system? Where did it go..."

Response to comment [from an atheist]:  "[D]eep."

Smart Guy: Jeremy L. Walter, mechanical engineering

"Theocreologists are a funny bunch. They don't know science from a stump..."

How do you define science?  Are you speaking about observational science?  Historical science?

"They would never dream of going to an original source, or even a text, or maybe going to, like you know, college..."

The mechanical engineer I quoted did not go to college?

[The mechanical engineer I quoted did not go to college?]  "You didn't."

Ad hominem.

We were speaking about Jeremy L. Walter, a mechanical engineer. You made the claim that creationists "would never dream of going to an original source, or even a text, or maybe going to, like you know, college...". Would you like to revise your claim? And your source on the other gem that I did not go to college?

"The point oh yellow one, is that YOU don't know science from squash pie..."

Still waiting for your definition of science.

"Your engineer...knows nothing about science."

When one departs from your worldview, they know nothing about science?  Is this your working definition for a scientist?

Response to comment [from other]:  "No...it's a matter of HOW they depart from the worldview. If they fail to consider the viewpoints of their peers ..."

Did you consider that they have considered the opposing view?

"...then it's clear they aren't really vetting their own viewpoint..."

Or the materialist is wrong.

"Science is all about checking and cross-checking."

Then you understand the difference between observational science and historical science?

"SerpentDove is all about SerpentDove."

Ad hominem.

Response to comment [from other]:  "Every genetic disorder is designed that way? Every pain of every person suffering from any infectious illness is intentional by the designer? Every person with varicose veins can lay the pain and disfigurement on the designer?"

God's creation was very good (Ge 1:31). After the fall it was very bad (Ge 3:7). We should expect no suffering?

You don't know him (
Jer 9:24).
