[Why is Obedience Such a Big Deal to God? by Chris Russell] There is a principle in this world that is as sure as any law of nature. That principle is this: Ultimately, the eternal consequences of our life are dependent upon our obedience or disobedience to God and His Word. Apart from this, obedience to God’s Word is now and always for His glory and rejection leads to the demise of man.

You may not believe in the law of gravity. You may resist it. You may make fun of it. You may work feverishly to disprove it. However, you will never be able to avoid its effects. You may decide to step off of a tall building just to demonstrate your disdain for such a silly “law,” and it may even be exciting and thrilling for a few brief moments. But you will soon have to face the consequences for your actions.

This is the same way that it works in the spiritual domain. There are certain spiritual laws in place that we must observe. God knows all of those principles since they are an expression of His character, and He has given us all the details we need to know in order to experience the greatest life possible according to those standards.

You may decide to abandon God’s directives, and it may even be thrilling for a while. But that course will end badly. Because God loves you dearly He has given you everything you need to know to live life to the fullest. Obeying what He has said brings glory to God; disregarding His principles results in the demise of man.
