I would suggest you read Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth about Compassionate Conservatism by Arthur C. Brooks (Hardcover - Nov 27, 2006) See who gives more-- liberals or conservatives.

Bombing developing countries? Americans have liberated more people in the cause of freedom than any other nation in the history of mankind.
