Training a New Generation of Creation Research Scientists

ICR is excited to announce the 2006 Graduate Mentorship Workshop. Co-sponsored by the Society for the Advancement of Creation Science (SACS) and ICR, this six-day workshop will provide students and educators an opportunity to learn from ICR scientists lecturing on topics related to the research and communication of creation science issues.

One of the hallmarks of ICR from its inception in 1970 is our focus on training researchers and educators in the various fields of science from a creationist worldview. Each year the faculty of ICR teaches graduate students advanced courses in science, but all from the perspective of biblical creation. Many of these students go on to become highly-respected researchers and professors in secular universities around the world, multiplying the impact of ICR’s ministry upon future generations.

The Graduate Mentorship Workshop will provide promising science students and educators a unique opportunity to interact with world-class creation scientists who are at the forefront of research that deals with and defends the biblical account of creation.

The primary goal of the workshop is:

…to encourage Christian students with talent in science, both undergraduate and graduate, to seek earnestly God’s calling for their lives, to discover whether He might be calling them to a lifetime career as professional scientists/educators focused on research that defends the trustworthiness of His Word.

Apart from the daily schedule filled with presentations, workshops, and worship, an evening lecture series has been added and will feature a number of top creation scientists, including:

  • Dr. Russell Humphreys – “Thousands, Not Billions—Radioisotope Evidence for a Young World”
  • Dr. John Baumgardner – “Tectonic Catastrophe and the Geologic Record”
  • Dr. Steve Austin – “Evidences for Recent Geological Catastrophe”

The Mentorship Workshop will be held July 16-21, 2006 on the campus of Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS. Workshop details and registration information can be found at www.msstate.edu/org/sacs/gmw.   http://www.icr.org/article/training-new-generation-creation-research-scientis/
