"The New York
Post yesterday brought to light a controversy involving readings
on Muslims and Christians that portrayed Christians as bigoted
and repressive and conversely lauded Muslims as tolerant and
cosmopolitan. The readings are as follows.
"Concerning Muslims:
* "Wherever they went, the Moslems [sic] brought with them their
love of art, beauty and learning. From about the eighth to the
eleventh century, their culture was superior in many ways to
that of western Christendom.
* "Some of the finest centers of Moslem life were established in
Spain. In Cordova, the streets were solidly paved, while at the
same time in Paris people waded ankle-deep in mud after a rain.
Cordovan public lamps lighted roads for as far as ten miles; yet
seven hundred years later there was still not a single public
lamp in London!"
Concerning Christians:
* "Idols, temples and other material evidences of paganism
destroyed."
* "Christian buildings often constructed on sites of destroyed
native temples in order to symbolize and emphasize the
substitution of one religion by the other."
* "Indians supplied construction labor without receiving
payment."
* "In a converted community, services and fiestas were regularly
held in the church building."

The Board of Regents was slammed for displaying a bias against
Christianity and deference to Muslims. Looking at the
readings, there is not a single word of falsehood in them..."

Response to comment [from an agnostic]: "With the exception of the phrase "their love of art, beauty, and learning", can you show me how any of those statements are factually incorrect?"
Are decapitated people lovely to you? When women are dehumanized having to wear a burqua do you find it lovely? Artzy fartzy? Avant Garde?
Response to comment [from an agnostic]: "Those are about incidents in the 21st century. The OP was about a mediaeval history book. What's your link got to do with it?"
Why don't we start with is occurring now? Then, we can agree on history--doesn't your gal revise history as needed? :peach: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afGz0dzVSIU
Response to comment [from a Christian]: ""The year is 732
A.D., and Europe is under assault. Islam, born a mere 110 years
earlier, is already in its adolescence, and the Muslim Moors are
on the march.
Growing in leaps and bounds, the Caliphate, as the Islamic realm
is known, has thus far subdued much of Christendom, conquering
the old Christian lands of the Mideast and North Africa in short
order. Syria and Iraq fell in 636; Palestine in 638; and Egypt,
which was not even an Arab land, fell in 642. North Africa, also
not Arab, was under Muslim control by 709. Then came the year
711 and the Moors’ invasion of Europe, as they crossed the
Strait of Gibraltar and entered Visigothic Iberia (now Spain and
Portugal). And the new continent brought new successes to Islam.
Conquering the Iberian Peninsula by 718, the Muslims crossed the
Pyrenees Mountains into Gaul (now France) and worked their way
northward. And now, in 732, they are approaching Tours, a mere
126 miles from Paris..." http://thenewamerican.com/index.php/history/world/2876-when-christendom-pushed-back
How asinine to think that they would want to conquer America (sarrrrrrcasm)."
Exactly. Muslims need to look at themselves and their perverted faith. Stop blaming others and playing the victim in America.
Response to comment [from an agnostic]: "Why? It's not relevant to a history book about the Middle Ages."
Muslims have contributed more than art and architecture. What's your beef with Christians?

Response to comment [from an agnostic]: "...[Y]es, Islamic cultures have been responsible for their fair share of bloodshed. What of it? They were also responsible for major advancements in art, medicine, mathematics and architecture..."
Is your last name
Obama?
Why do I give a damn about: art, medicine, math and architecture
when you'd like to saw my head off?
Why don't you discuss the perverted faith of Islam itself before
talking about everso interesting buildings?
Some would not follow Jesus (Jn
6:66). Did he go after them
with an ax? No, he didn't (Jn
6:67). Do you get the same
option in Islam? "Seek out your enemies relentlessly." (Surah
4:104)
Christianity is about freedom (Deut
30:19). Islam is about
domination (Eph.
4:14,
2 Pet. 2:12–19).
Christians win converts by the love of Christ (Lu 19:10). Islam
wins converts by the sword. You must resort to this when you do
not posses the truth (Jn
1:14). Worship the beast as
he's always wanted (Rev.
13:16, 17; 14:9, 11;
16:2; 19:20; 20:4) or worship the one, true God (Deut.
4:35; 6:4; 1

46:9; Dan.

"I say his wife isn't 'my gal' because I'm not even American."
I know foreigners more "American" than U.S. citizens. We are a Judeo-Christian nation. The Left of the world hates this country because of who we are (1Jo 2:18).
"The left stands for: secularism, equality and multiculturalism. The right stands for (The American Trinity: found on any coin in your pocket): 'In God we Trust', Liberty and E pluribus unum, Latin for 'out of many, one'... (Prager)"

"[C]learly without the recent 9/11 crisis they'd never get away with building a mosque in New York."
Because we are a free people we allow these perversions centers to be built. They must be kept under surveillance. Sharia law is in direct conflict with the U.S. Constitution. You know, that thing Obama swore to uphold.

Better figure out who's who--soon (2 Cor 6:2).
Response to comment [from a Jew]: "...[Y]our
attempt to paint all of Islam, through all the ages, as some
dark awful thing, while pretending that Christianity is and
always was a beautiful pristine tolerant religion is pathetic.
Through much of history Christianity was a repressive murderous
religion. To this day my people say a memorial prayer (right
after the Torah reading on Shabbat) for those killed by the
crusaders and in the Chmielnicki massacres.
When we were thrown out of Christian Spain, many fed to Muslim
Turkey.
Face the facts. There are some bad things going on in Islam
today, but don't pretend that Islam was always like that, or
that all Muslims are evil- or that Christianity doesn't have
blood on it's hands."

You'd better figure out who the real enemy is--soon (Deut. 13:1–3; Matt. 5:19; 7:15; 15:2–20; 23:2–33; Luke 11:38–52) "Your people" missed the boat the first time (Jn 4:26). Don't miss it again (2 Tim. 1:10).
