The easiest way to tell this panel might be on the right path is that Nancy Pelosi immediately came out and rejected their preliminary recommendations. This proposal is not perfect. It doesn't cut enough spending, it proposes too many tax increases, and it doesn't tackle ObamaCare. The recommendations do provide some solutions for the most important budgetary challenge we have today- reforming Social Security and Medicare. It's a mixed bag, but a good starting point for a necessary discussion, a discussion Democrats are not interested in having.
