Girls with guns, not dolls, in ‘gender neutral' toy shop

[Girls with guns, not dolls, in ‘gender neutral' toy shop AFP] "Sweden's largest toy chain "gender neutral" after picturing boys holding baby dolls and banishing girls from the dolls pages of its Christmas catalogue..."For several years, we have found that the gender debate has grown so strong in the Swedish market that we ... have had to adjust," Jan Nyberg, director of sales at Top Toy, franchise-holder for US toy chain Toys R Us, said. The country's advertising watchdog reprimanded the company for gender discrimination three years ago following complaints over outdated gender roles in the 2008 Christmas catalogue, which featured boys dressed as superheroes and girls playing princess. A comparison between this year's Toys R Us catalogues in Sweden and Denmark, where Top Toy is also the franchisee, showed that a boy wielding a toy machine gun in the Danish edition had been replaced by a girl in Sweden. Elsewhere, a girl was Photoshopped out of the "Hello Kitty" page, a girl holding a baby doll was replaced by a boy, and, in sister chain BR's catalogue, a young girl's pink T-shirt was turned light blue. Top Toy, Sweden's largest toy retailer by number of stores, said it had received "training and guidance" from the Swedish advertising watchdog, which is a self-regulatory agency. "We have produced the catalogues for both BR and Toys R Us in a completely different way this year," Nyberg said. "With the new gender thinking, there is nothing that is right or wrong. It's not a boy or a girl thing, it's a toy for children." Elsewhere, a girl was Photoshopped out of the "Hello Kitty" page, a girl holding a baby doll was replaced by a boy, and, in sister chain BR's catalogue, a young girl's pink T-shirt was turned light blue..." Response to comment [from a Catholic]: "It's absolutely hilarious that the ad accompanying your OP is the front cover of Esquire magazine with a photo of Jessica Simpson shaving her face."

If you're a pagan heathen, this is funny. Pr 31:9

[Rebellion] "It's funny, no doubt about it."

Pr 1:26

Response to comment [from a Christian]: "Gender neutral is a stale joke. My only son has four older sisters. He would grab a barbie doll and turn it into a gun or a car! My youngest daughter, at the age of eleven, wanted a "Tommy Tool Kit" for Christmas which I bought for her. My sister was certain I'd turn her into a lesbian if I gave her boy things. Turns out she is very much a female but enjoys working with tools!"

That's right. This is common sense. As Dennis Prager says, you have to have gone to graduate school to believe that men and women are the same. We are equal before God (Ge 1:26–27, Ga 3:28) but made differently, indeed (1 Pe 3:7, 1 Tim 5:3–16, Pr 31:10–31).

Response to comment [from a Catholic]:  "Girls with guns..."

Women fire guns. What's your point?

"Boys with dolls..."

These boys are playing with GI Joe action figures. They aren't homos. Where's ACW?

"...I played both with dolls and with BB guns and army men when I was a kid. It depended who was around to play with at the moment. And nobody worried about it."

Do you reject the concept of gender differences?

Response to comment [from other]: "...I very seldom wore pink in preference of blue..."

What a rebel.

"...My brother played with my sister's dolls as a child, married (a woman even) and has two children and several grandchildren.

So much for your criteria..."

What criteria?

[GI Joe action figures] "I know what they are. I used to play with them."

You said that. Did people think you were a boy? Did anyone think your brother was a girl?

"[A]CW is on a richly deserved vacation, as you well know."

I'm guessing a female banned him.

"I reject adults projecting their own fears..."

Proof please (2 Ti 1:7).

Response to comment [from other]: "In SD's mind, thinking makes a woman a rebel."

For as he thinks within himself, so he is (Pr 23:7, KJV).

"Carry on with your non rebellion..."

Re 22:11

"Delmar is not a female ... care to guess again?"

Is Delmar equally critical of the pagan heathens?

Response to comment [from other]: [Delmar banned ACW ] "Why do you think that?"

Delmar is allegedly not a woman.

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: [I'm guessing a female banned ACW.] "Gender fear projection, exhibit A..."

I'm not afraid of Delmar--unless he wears lip gloss.

Response to comment [from other]:  "Why did you think a female banned him?"

You all tell me that Delmar is not a woman. I suppose I must believe you.

"Why did you think a female banned him?"

Is he responsible for the Precious Moments displays at his church?

He's over there talking about AKs --perhaps, you're right. If he could hock a loogie or something, I'd have more confidence in your claim.

Response to comment [from a Christian]: "Nope. A female didn't ban him. Knight banned one of his user names (by giving him an infraction) and Delmar banned the other (permanently for trying to get around the rules).

Getting in the way of a prophetic burden is your business.

"You know what? I was talking to ACW about the second infraction (trying to get around the rules by using a second username). He knew that he was wrong in that..."

Do you have the same standard for the God-haters?

"I happen to agree with a lot of what ACW talks about...I watch some of the people on here egg him on, trying to get him to implode verbally, because they don't like what he says. Personally, I don't care what people think of me for this but, I like ACW. I've told him this several times. Yes. I get upset when he implodes. But, like I said, I've seen what others say to and/or about him. That is why I give him quite a bit more leeway than I would most other people on TOL..."

He keeps up social tension. What do you do?

Homosexuality is: forbidden (
Lev. 18:22), considered an abomination (1 Kin. 14:24), punishment for (Lev. 20:13), unclean (Rom. 1:24, 26, 27).

"...I tend to be slow to give him an infraction..."

You'll answer to God for what you do.

Response to comment [from a Jew]: "...Do you think God gave Adam and Eve little gender appropriate toys in the garden and forbid them from letting their child play with anything else?"

Do you think Adam and Eve were created as babies?

"...Do you really think God cares that a little girl plays with the wrong chunk of plastic..."

Why would he? One caller on Dennis Prager's radio program told a story about giving trucks to a little girl. She gave them all names and tucked them into bed. Another caller told a story about giving dolls to boy. He posed them into the shape of a gun fired them. Prager radio.

Response to comment [from an atheist]: [Persephone66 is a man who dresses as a woman (Deut 22:5, Mt 19:4). ] "I think pink and blue go very nicely together..."

You can act like a man

A few housekeeping items:

I correct for my own typos and quotes from others.

1 Pe 4:8

I also expand on thoughts in brackets prior to posting another member's quotes (e.g. what the gist of the conversation has been for clarity).

[Graphics/changes] "Or was it something else you had in mind?"

Sometimes. If another word or graphic expresses a thought better, I update the post. Usually, the last correction is a typo as I skim the post for errors. The last correction will reflect this (e.g. update, typo, etc.).  I will discontinue entering a comment in "reason for editing" in 2013.

The easily offended here --not with sin (Hos 3:1 )--but with those who have righteous anger toward sin made it an issue. Pr 28:1

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: "...[C]alling it righteous anger allows for bad behavior?"

Righteous anger is a good thing (Eph 4:26, Ps 7:11). The "pious" here often do not recognize persecutors and deceitful "friends". Ge 3:1, Deut 32:24-29, 1 Jn 4:1, Heb 4:12, Pr 2:1-5, 18:15, 25:1-28, Isa 1:1-31, 8:20, 44:17-20, 1 Ki 3:11, 1 Thess 5:21, 1 Co 2:14, 2 Co 11:4, 11:13-15, Ro 3:1-9:33, Ac 17:11, 1 Ki 3:9, Col 2:8, 1 Ti 6:3-5, Mt 10:16, 24:24, Heb 11:26, Jn 10:4, Re 22:18-19, Ps 23:1-6

Jesus loves you (Jn 3:16). Jesus is willing to save you (2 Pe 3:9). Repent (Eze 18:30-32; Ac 17:30). Believe (Mk 9:23).
