Statue of Virgin Mary To Be Built Higher than Statue of Liberty

[Statue of Virgin Mary To Be Built Higher than Statue of Liberty Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries] "President Ricardo Martinelli of Panama said that a new statue of the Virgin Mary will be erected on the coast in Panama City and will rise 100 meters--seven more than the Statue of Liberty in New York.

"It will be an icon of this city for the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the South Sea and for the first Catholic church on land," President Martinelli said. Read full story

Response to comment [from an atheist]: "The Statue of Liberty could still take her. I hear Liberty fights dirty."

I don't know. We're talking serious idolatry here. Deut 4:19; 17:3

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: Idolatry? I guess I didn't know we bowed before the Statue of Liberty.

It's essential.

Only if you're Republican.

You've never seen a Catholic bow before a statue of Mary?

"Is there a real difference between bowing before "liberty" and bowing before "obedience"?"

No one has commanded you to bow to or pray to other gods (Ho 4:12).

Who are Catholics praying to when the say:

"Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen."

Response to comment [from an atheist]: [Is there a real difference between bowing before "liberty" and bowing before "obedience"?] "Only by definition..."

Would they pray to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man? Deut 4:28; Ps 115:5,7

Hail Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among marshmallows, and blessed is the sugar of thy womb..."

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: "Awesome."

Ps 97:7

Response to comment [from a Christian]: "Doesn't matter.  When Jesus comes there is going to be a Pole Shift and every wall and statue will crash to the Ground and every knee will bend before the Great Judge of the Universe..."

The arrogance of man will be brought low and the pride of men humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day, and the idols will totally disappear. Isa 2:17-18, NIV

Response to comment [from other]: "Clarify for me SD, which are you against..."

Who cares what I am against? What is God against? Idolatry is an abomination to God (Deut 7:25).

"...[T]he making of images as an aid to worship..."

Making images does not aid in worship. Those who practice idolatry are estranged from God (Eze 14:5).

"...Does it bother you that there were some people who are really holier than you..."

You believe that.  I do not (Ro 3:12).

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: "You do not believe that some people have more faith than others?"

You've never done a good thing.

[Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries Sep 12] "...Only some of the works done after justification are intrinsically good and acceptable to God. All the works of a Christian will be tested by fire. The good works, described by Paul, as gold, silver and precious stones, will survive the fire and result in rewards at the Bema seat. They are works done in faith, motivated by a love of God, in obedience to the will of God and for His glory. The worthless works, described as wood, hay and straw will be burned up, and the believer shall suffer the loss of rewards (1 Cor. 3:12-15).

Following are four tests for good works: the timing of the works - they must be done after justification, not before (Eph. 2:10; Phil. 2:12; 1 Thes. 1:3). the motivation for the works -they must be done in thanksgiving for being saved, not to merit salvation (1 Cor. 6:20; 1 Thes. 5:18; Jn. 14:21); the power in which the works are accomplished - trusting God's power, not the power of the flesh (Jn.15:5; Rom. 15:13, Phil. 2:12-13; Col. 1:29; 2 Thes. 1:11; Heb. 11:6); and the glory produced by the works - they must glorify God, not man (Acts 4:21; Mat. 5:16; Jn. 15:8; 1 Cor. 10:31; 1 Pet. 2:12).

Worthless works will fail all or some of these tests. They include all works done as unbelievers, as well as works done after justification that either seek to earn God's favor or man's glory. Consider Jesus's rebuke of the Pharisees: "they do all their deeds to be noticed by men" (Mat. 23:5). There are also those who "profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient, and worthless for any good deed" (Titus 1:16)..."

Response to comment [from other] : "You know what that means, right? We gotta make the statue of Lady Liberty taller..."

"I'm thankful we agree on the definition of Saints."

You are not a saint (Jud 11).

"I guess I also don't get a statue..."

Why should a saint get a statue?

"...but I'll pray for both of us anyway."
God does not hear the prayers of the wicked (Pr 15:29).
