Pope Denies the Resurrection of the Body

[ Pope Denies the Resurrection of the Body Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries] “In his best known book on systematic theology entitled Introduction to Christianity, the current pope, Joseph Ratzinger, explicitly denies the resurrection of the body. He wrote: "It now becomes clear that the real heart of faith in the resurrection does not consist at all in the idea of the restoration of bodies, to which we have reduced it in our thinking; such is the case even though this is the pictorial image used throughout the Bible."

By denying the fundamental biblical truth of the resurrection of the body, the pope is in serious error for not knowing "the Scriptures, nor the power of God" (
Matt. 22:29). It is a grave heresy, whose tendency is to "overthrow the faith of some" (2 Tim. 2:18). We know "He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you" (Rom. 8:11). Read more."

Response to comment [from a Christian]: "Why did you post this under Politics?"

A few housekeeping items:

The politics section includes "current events".

Response to comment [from other]: "This doesn't belong in the politics section."

If you're right, they will move it.

Response to comment [from a Christian] : "Current events? The book was published in 1968."

I quote a newsletter out this month.

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: "[Proclaiming the Gospel Ministries newsletter]"It's all-too-easy to quote from Catholic sources without properly comprehending their meaning, isn't it..."

He rejects Catholicism but you're welcome.

I think Roman Catholics should trust but verify (Ga 1:8-9).

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: "Do you now admit that your first post is false, and that the Pope does not, in fact, deny the resurrection of the body?"

No. "... He wrote: "It now becomes clear that the real heart of faith in the resurrection does not consist at all in the idea of the restoration of bodies, to which we have reduced it in our thinking; such is the case even though this is the pictorial image used throughout the Bible." Full text

By the way, Barbie believes the same.

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: "I think you will believe any statement--no matter how dishonest--that supports your hatred for Catholicism..."

If I hated Catholics, I would not warn them that their trust in their religion will lead them to hell (Jude 11).

Response to comment [from other]: [I think Roman Catholics should trust but verify (Ga 1:8-9).] "What does that mean?..."

It means whatever you want it to mean.

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: y do u attack other Christains? [Sic]

You are not a Christian (Jude 11).

"The pope stands against abortion adultery divorce and "remarriage" stands for the santity of human life... etc..." [sic]

He mixes truth with error (Ga 5:9).

"Leave the pope alone..."

He's a big, evil boy. He can take it.

Response to comment [from a Catholic]: "I did not say you hated Catholics. I said you hate Catholicism."

Is it possible to hate false teaching and love your neighbor? Ps 119:128

"...[Y]ou hate it enough to believe any lie against it..."

If what you believed ended up to be false, would you want to know?

[Jude 11 ] "If you have to lie about your neighbor, you do not love him."

Answered above. You believe the pope does not reject a bodily resurrection. I believe he does reject a bodily resurrection. His followers (e.g. Barbie) also believe this.
